JM Eagle Brings Clean Water To Small Village In Honduras
Generous Pipe Donation Means A Community No Longer Has To Ration Water
Livingston, NJ - November 15, 2005 - JM Eagle Company, Inc. (JM Eagle), the largest producer of plastic pipe in the world, has donated 45,600 feet of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe needed to construct an 8.5 mile pipeline, intended to bring clean water to Santa Cruz, a small village in Honduras. Currently, the community of Santa Cruz has an insufficient supply of fresh water, causing diseases associated with water contamination to develop among children and the elderly. In addition, the villagers are forced to ration their water during the dry season, in order to compensate for the depleted supply.
Construction of the pipeline commenced in October 2005 by bringing fresh water from a mountain spring to a 50,000 gallon holding tank that brings the 5,000 people of Santa Cruz an ample supply of clean drinking water. Completion of the pipeline project is anticipated by the summer of 2006.
